Last-minute arrangements are under way for the Attukal Pongala to be held here on March 11. The traditional hearth in front of the Attukal Bhagavathy Temple Thiruvananthapuram will be lit by 10.45 a.m., and the Nivedyam will be at 2.15 p.m. The Pongala festival will get under way here on March 3, trust office-bearers said at a press conference here on Tuesday. It will conclude with Kuruthitharpanam on March 12. Various arrangements had been made for the conduct of the festival in association with the authorities, they said. An 111-member general committee had been formed for the conduct of the festival. The open area in front of the temple had been made suitable for offering the Pongala.
