This region was ruled by Reddyraju Kings. Shrine of Lord Anjaneya was found on November 1st, 1166 A.D. The temple architecture was designed by famous architect Late Ganapathi Sthapati.
According to the legend, In Tretayuga Madhya was one of the asuras in Lanka. But he was an ardent devotee of Lord Anjaneya. As he was in the enemy’s kingdom, he could not express his devotion towards Lord Hanuma. But Madhya wanted to be the part of Lord’s Grace at least in his next birth so he surrendered his life to Vanaras in the war against King Ravana. Thus to bless Madhya Lord Anjaneya manifested Himself in the Maddi Tree.
